DESIGN BOOKS publishes in the areas of architecture, design, landscape, preservation, and the arts, and creates books with artists, practitioners, historians, and museums as well as with estates and foundations. Design Books was founded by Nancy Green, whose career in publishing includes stints at Van Nostrand Reinhold, TAB Books/McGraw Hill, and W. W. Norton. Jonathan D. Lippincott, now a partner at Design Books, worked for almost twenty-five years at Farrar, Straus and Giroux, while running a freelance book design business. Green and Lippincott are actively looking for new projects. If you are interested in submitting a book proposal, please read our submission guidelines below.

Nancy Green has spent over forty years publishing books on design and related subjects. At Van Nostrand Reinhold Company over the course of twenty years she served as editor, editor-in-chief, and vice-president and publisher of a list noted for its architecture, design, and craft publications. Subsequently she conceived and ran the Design Press imprint and its successor, Design Books. From 1993 to 2012 she was a senior editor at W. W. Norton & Company, where she was responsible for developing Norton Professional Books for Architects and Designers. Since retirement in 2013 she has continued to publish under the Design Books imprint and has offered a range of freelance editorial services under the aegis of Green Editorial-Design Books.

Jonathan D. Lippincott began his publishing career in 1994 at Farrar, Straus and Giroux, where he rose to design manager. Working at this small and esteemed literary house provided him with a remarkable design education, and well as the opportunity to learn about all aspects of book publishing. In tandem with his time at FSG, Lippincott worked independently as art director and designer on a range of illustrated books about fine art, architecture, landscape, and design. His clients included W. W. Norton & Company, Design Books, and Library of American Landscape History. His services range from book design to acting as a book packager, handling all aspects of design, layout and typesetting, as well as production, printing, and distribution.
