Senior editor, Norton Books on Architecture and Design

Responsible for developing a list of approximately twenty titles per year. Acquire and supervise editing, design, and production.


1992–1993: Meredith Corporation

Executive editor, Meredith Books

Supervise editorial staff. Concurrently, developed and published design books under the imprint Design Books (distributed now by NBN), continuing the program I originated at TAB BOOKS/McGraw Hill.


1988–1991: Design Press/McGraw-Hill

Vice president, editorial director of this division of TAB BOOKS Inc., established as a new imprint for the company

Planned, acquired, delivered camera copy, and oversaw production of ten to twelve new books annually. TAB was purchased by McGraw-Hill in 1990.


1987–1988: Walker Publishing Co.

Editorial director

Managed the editorial and production staff of this small, family-owned library publisher and acquired general trade books.


1963–1987: Van Nostrand Reinhold Company

Vice president

Production and editorial services. Member, editorial board. Responsible for editing, design, and manufacturing of all company product: approximately 150 technical, professional, and reference titles annually. Managed a staff of 26.


1983–1985

Vice president, publisher of Architecture, Design, and Food Service division. Responsibility, under new corporate ownership, for conversion of a specialized list of architecture, design, and hospitality books to a professional-reference program. General line duties as below.

Vice president, editorial director, trade book division

Overall responsibility, including long-range budgeting, staffing, and editorial planning for VNR’s 180-title-a-year trade publishing program. Direct day-to-day supervision of editorial, design, and production staff of 22.
